How to Make Slow Cooker Pulled Pork
This is the pulled pork recipe our family has been enjoying for many years and we make it regularly (hint: it also freezes really well if you make extra to save for another day).
To get started, brown the roast in the skillet on the stove on all sides with a bit of oil in the skillet over medium heat. If you want to skip this step, you can, but browning adds a bit of flavor to the dish (just know that it isn’t mandatory if you are in a hurry to get this on).
We recommend using a 3 lb pork shoulder or pork butt roast with strings removed. Mix together the sauce ingredients in the recipe card below and pour over the top of the roast and cook, covered, on low until the meat is tender (this usually takes between 8 and 10 hours).
Remove the roast from the slow cooker and place into a large serving bowl, then add in ½ cup of the cooking liquid. Shred the pork with two forks, stir in the other half of the barbecue sauce and serve hot.
Love coleslaw on your pulled pork? We’ve got you covered: To make a delicious coleslaw to top this with, we’ve got a great recipe over on our sister site, The Kitchen Magpie which you can find here: Homemade Coleslaw Recipe.
